The relationship between tourism and the economy is very close. This is because tourism is one of the important sectors that can accelerate economic growth in an area. Many regions worldwide have become highly developed and developed due to tourism. However, tourism development has begun to bring some negative impacts, such as damage to the environment and natural ecosystems, changes in social values??, and indigenous culture in the area. The emergence of negative phenomena in the tourism sector certainly gets serious attention from academics and practitioners; they are trying to find innovations to minimise the negative impacts caused by tourism. Following up on this condition, the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, as one of the faculties at the largest public university in North Bali, again held an international seminar on Tourism, Economics, Accounting, Management, and Social Science (TEAMS) in 2021 to help provide ideas and breakthroughs to minimise negative impacts while maximising the positive effects of the tourism sector so that economic growth in an area can continue to develop towards a better and more advanced direction.
The TEAMS international seminar in 2021 is the sixth international seminar since it was first held in 2016. The TEAMS international seminar in 2021 has the theme “Responsible Tourism and Sustainable Economy” by presenting five speakers who have expertise in economics and tourism from several well-known universities both from home and abroad. The five speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Alexander Hermeneu (Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, Germany), Prof. Dr. Naswan Suharsono (Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia), Dr. Evan Lau Poh Hock (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Malaysia), Dr. I Gusti Ayu Purnamawati (Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Indonesia) and Dr. Nyoman Dini Andiani (Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Indonesia). In addition to raising five expert speakers, the TEAMS seminar in 2021 also collaborated with three universities as co-hosts, namely Petra Christian University, Palangka Raya University, and Universitas Nusa Cendana. The TEAMS international seminar in 2021 has been held for three days, from October 26 to October 28, 2021.
The seminar was opened by Prof. Dr Nyoman Jampel, Chancellor of the Ganesha University of Education, and was attended by 712 presenters and participants. Overall, the TEAMS 2021 received very high enthusiasm from various groups who registered as presenters and participants; this was evidenced by the receipt of 103 articles and the activeness of the participants to ask the presenters both in the main seminar session and in parallel sessions. Papers submitted and presented by each presenter will be published internationally in Atlantis Press. Various breakthroughs and innovations written and put forward by the presenters can be widely known by the public. In addition, the articles that will be published internationally are expected to provide benefits for the economic and social life of the world community. (team).
